This 16" x 20" atmospheric painting titled " Moonset - Sunrise Over Mt. San Jacinto" scene was inspired from a desert sunrise I experienced around 6 a.m. in August 2017, in a pristine desert location in Rancho Mirage, California. Unfortunately, this beautiful scene has since forever been destroyed by a new road, over-priced track home developments, a gas station and eventually retail spaces...yet another casualty of humanities relentless quest to conquer the land. This, is one of the very reasons why I, as well as many other artists of the past and present, paint these type of landscape scenes of the natural world, to document them for future generations, before they are but a fleeting memory to those living now on this Earth. To bring awareness for the need to protect and preserve key historical and cultural landscapes of the natural world, before those too are only a memory.
