California Art Club "Echoes of Yosemite" September 17 – December 14, 2025

Moonlight in the Land of Giants
The first public gallery viewing of my large 60" x 24" oil painting "Moonlight in the Land of Giants" is now taking place at the California Art Club "Echoes of Yosemite" exhibition at Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art in Moraga, California.
This painting depicts a nocturne scene of the world famous, nearly 3000 year old "Grizzly" Giant Sequoia, which grows in the Maraposa Grove of Yosemite National Park, California.
The Grizzly Giant Sequoia, standing approximately 209 ft (63.7m) is the oldest tree in Mariposa Grove, which is Yosemite National Park's largest grove of giant sequoias, containing hundreds of mature trees and the 26th-largest living giant sequoia. It's thick bark has protected the tree for thousands of years from natural wildfires that have occurred in the region.
The earliest inhabitants of Yosemite Valley were the Ahimsa, Ahwahneechee and Mono people, who lived in the region for thousands of years. They were skilled hunters and gatherers, utilizing the abundant resources of the valley to survive. They understood the delicate balance of nature and respected the interconnectedness of all living things. Their methods of resource management and conservation ensured the valley’s long-term health and their own survival.
The Echoes of Yosmite Exhibition will run September 17 – December 14, 2025 at the Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art, 1928 St Mary’s Rd. PMB 5110, Moraga, California 94556.
